Come learn about Sustainable Aquaculture at the Catalina Sea Ranch in partnership with Alta Sea. We will learn how a mussel farm is built underwater and how the mussel larvae are bred using cryogenic research techniques from USC and CSUDH. We will have an opportunity to tour the Catalina Sea Ranch Lab and to view the larvae through microscopes in addition to handling the adult mussels.
Please only sign up your students/children. Adults do not need to sign up and do not need to pay but DO need to be on site. Note this event is for grades 6th-12th only. There are close-by areas to explore if you have younger children with you and I will be happy to chaperone your child.
Please arrive at 12:30PM, the workshop starts promptly at 1PM.
Please contact Ronna Yelin, 310-951-5660 for questions, to be added to the wait-list or if you need a chaperone for your child.
